Burghealth Physical Medicine

our St Pete Physical Medicine office Faqs

How long is a standard treatment plan?

Because every patient, condition, and end goal are unique, our treatment plans are customized to meet the specific needs of each patient. While some people may need just two to three visits, others may require several weeks or months of treatment. The severity of the injury, a person’s age, body composition, compliance, and medical history are just a few factors that will determine the scope of treatment.

Do I need imaging or x-rays?

At Burghealth, we do not require imaging or x-rays for new patients. However, if we feel that imaging or x-rays would be beneficial to reach a proper diagnosis, it will be highly recommended.

How long is an average office visit?

Office visits last anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of therapy and condition being treated. To determine the best treatment plan, we offer all new prospective patients a 15-minute consultation with a member of our physical medicine care team.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! We take most major medical insurances. To verify benefits, new patients should contact our St. Petersburg physical medicine office and speak to one of our team members. No insurance? No problem! We have a discount service network available that all patients can join. This plan includes significant discounts on all services and is a great option for those without insurance or plans with limited physical medicine visits.

Do you treat anything else besides the spine?

Absolutely! Our providers have gone through extensive training to treat almost all musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body from head to toe! We also offer nutritional counseling as well as different forms of therapy to treat a variety of conditions such as headaches, stress, anxiety, and more!

Will I receive treatment on the same visit as my exam?

In most cases, yes. However, if we find that additional information is needed to obtain a proper diagnosis (i.e., imaging, obtaining medical records, or need additional time to review the current medical information), we will schedule a follow-up visit.

I’ve never been to a physical medicine office. What should I expect?

At Burghealth, our patients can expect quality care and compassion for their injuries and health concerns. During the first visit, we will review medical history, perform a thorough exam, provide a diagnosis and review of our findings, and go over a suggested treatment plan customized to meet the specific needs of each patient. In most cases, patients will also receive their first treatment upon completion of the initial exam.

Do you have a discount service option?

Yes! At Burghealth, we have multiple payment options and care credit to help. Our payment options page goes into further detail.

What types of treatments do you offer ?

Do you sell products in the office?

Yes. We keep a variety of nutritional products such as Ancient Nutrition and Biotics Research. Many items are  available in our office, but any item can be ordered as well. We also offer multiple types of topical analgesics for pain relief as well as Kinesio tape from Rocktape.

What type of clothing should be worn at treatments?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely without restriction or anything that would inhibit the doctor from examining the area of the body. For instance, if you have a knee injury, it is ideal to wear shorts. Jeans, skirts, and thick tops like jackets or sweaters are not recommended. If needed, we are happy to provide gowns.

Are therapies included with treatment?

This will depend on the treatment plan based on the findings from the initial exam. Certain therapies are not covered by insurance, and some insurances limit what treatments can be administered in a single day. In addition, insurance plans often limit care to keep the cost at a minimum (i.e., Medicare doesn’t cover therapies or exams) while other insurance companies will cover one therapy but not another. No matter what, our goal is to help our patients feel better than they did before the injury occurred or the condition started. We promise to work with each patient and be as transparent as possible when it comes to the care we provide.
